 BIODATA

Biodata is the short form for Biographical Data and is an archaic (old) and outdated terminology for Resume or C.V.  It focuses on personal particulars like date of birth, gender, religion, race, nationality, residence, marital status etc. After that it includes chronological listing of education and experience. Now a days, it has lost its value for finding jobs. Generally, it is not used for the purpose of a job but in rare case biodata may asked. Hence, we must know about the structure and elements of a biodata.

Elements of a biodata:

1.    Objective

This is the first section of a biodata in which career and life objectives are mentioned.  it also includes the statement of suitability for a particular job.

2.    Personal details

In personal details, a biodata contains basic information such as your name, date of birth, gender, address and email address. Sometimes hobbies, and interest are also added. A candidate may include activities that may help the employer to understand the profile of a candidate.

a.     Name: Archana Sharma

b.    Father’s name: Mr S.S.Sharma

c.     Mother’s name: Mrs. M.W.Sharma

d.    DOB: 13/12/1996

e.    Address: Lekha Nagar, Meerut

f.      Gender: Female

3.    Work experience

Work experience includes the list of the jobs in chronological order. Work experience must contain post, profile, employer details, duration of job etc. 

4.    Skills

Skills are important information recruiters look for when skimming biodata for a particular position. By mentioning industry-relevant skills, an applicant can improve your chances of getting hired. It includes softskills, life skills, technical skills like computer skills.

5.    Education

    This section includes education, awards and distinctions etc. This section should be complete by wrting name of institution, subjects, percentage and division.

Features of Biodata

a.  Generally, one page long. Sometimes two pages.

b.  Important parts are personal details like date of Birth, gender, religion, race, nationality, residence, marital status etc.

c.  Written in a first or third person.

d.  Details of Education & Experience are not mandatory
