WhatsApp:

WhatsApp Messenger, or simply WhatsApp, is an internationally available American freeware, cross-platform centralized instant messaging (IM) and voice-over-IP (VoIP) service. It is an electronic social media based on android technology, developed for the worldwide public to share various types of information in in the form of texts, audio and audio-visual with the different linkages. Jan koum and Brain Acton are the founders of this social media. It was initially started for android mobile devices. Then after it came over to Windos, Symbian, IOS, Blackberry OS. It is processing more than 30 billion messages every day.

 

Features:

a)      It is a largest messaging platform all around the world.

b)     It uses all sort of files, text, emojis, audio, video, ppt, pdf etc.

Advantages:

a)      It is very easy to send different forms of messages to any person or group of persons of the world.

b)     It is free of charge so any common person can use it.

c)      It does not have any advertisement so does not consume the time of the user.

d)     It is user friendly which facilitates user for getting different types of information.

e)      It is useful to share user’s location, photos, status with friends.

f)      It doesn’t require money to chat, to audio calls and video calls also.

Disadvantages:

a)      It is comparatively costly because requires smart phones.

b)     It requires whatsApp accounts by both the sides.

c)      One must have access to internet to send and receive messages.

d)     One cannot call using this app free.

e)      Any unknown person can see the profile and know the contact number for misuse.

The term social networking refers to the use of internet-based social media sites to stay connected with friends, family, colleagues, customers, or clients. Social networking can have a social purpose, a business purpose, or both, through sites like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram.  A social media site is a website that allows people with similar interests to come together and share information, photos and videos. This method of communication is called social networking. Social networking is designed to share content quickly, efficiently and in real time. Examples- Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, blogs , Instagram, snapchat, LinkedIn, my space, Pinterest, etc. are examples of Social Media.

b)    On mobile or smart phone, it is called app.

c)     It is the communication tool started with computers.

d)    Social media technologies include blogs, picture-sharing, wall-postings, e-mail, music sharing, instant messaging, crowd sourcing and VO IP etc.

It is a computer-based system that allows users and subscribers to exchange personal voice messages; to select and deliver voice information; etc. by using an ordinary phone.

Advantages:

a)      It can help to the user to make life easier with its many features and settings

b)     It is simple to use which does not require any additional equipment.

c)      It requires less phone tags.

d)     It is less costly so saves money.

e)      It takes less time for communication.

f)      It can be used without any time restriction.

g)     It establishes personal relationship and strong business connections. .

Disadvantages:

a)      It is impersonal as the caller is dealing with the message services and not a human being.

b)     Some business voicemail systems are difficult and time consuming to navigate.

c)      It requires calling your inbox and entering your password to get the messages.

d)     Business voice mail systems can be very frustrating compared to personal voice mail on cell phones.

It is non-real time text messaging service. Generally, SMS length is about 160 characters (maximum). It can also be used in external systems such as electronic mail, paging, voice mail systems, PCs and other digital gadgets.

 Advantages:

a)      It is available on all Cell Phones i.e. mobiles

b)     It is user friendly

c)      It is so convenient to use silently without disturbing to others.

d)     It is convenient for reader to respond also.

e)      It takes less time for communication.

f)      It can be used without any time restriction.

g)     It is less costly or cheaper.

h)     It uses less amount of service signals.

i)       It is useful for the people having hearing problems.

j)       Its editing is possible for more improvements.

Disadvantages:

a)      It is having limited storage.

b)     If phone or SIM card is corrupted the data may lost.

c)      It provides limited length for messages to send .

d)     Other forms of content e.g.videos etc. cannot be sent or requires EMS or MMS.

e)      It is not suitable in emergencies.

f)      It does not ensure immediate delivery of messages .

g)     Phone users can be bombarded by unsolicited messages and which wastes time.

h)     It is not useful to visually disabled persons.
